Often in pairs, groups of up to 100 have been encountered in the reef. It will not tolerate copper or high levels of nitrates in the aquarium, but will require correct levels of iodine in the water to promote proper molting.

Morphology/Character
One of the most important invertebrate cleanners of reef fishes. The distinct coloration is very similar to that of the Atlantic species L.grabhami. the white line on the red back is broken on the tail fan in Lysmata amboinensis continous in L.grabhami. The cleaner shrimps are known to free especially large, stationary reef fishes such as moray and groupers from parasites and infected skin.

Biology
Sexing for these shrimp are hermaphroditic.
